For VTG Cargo AG, Sins (Aargau), a 100% subsidiary of VTG, we are looking for you as Portfolio and Joint Venture Manager (m/f/d) Switzerland as soon as possible.
VTG is the European market leader in the rental and leasing of freight railcars, managing a fleet of approximately 80,000 railcars across continental Europe and the United Kingdom. The company is headquartered in Hamburg, Germany. A significant portion of VTG’s asset investment activities is managed by VTG Cargo AG in Sins (Aargau).
VTG Cargo AG invests in new railcars, manages its own portfolio (currently around 9,532 railcars), and oversees railcars owned by third-party investors. Additionally, it provides corporate governance and analytical support to freight railcar leasing joint ventures throughout Europe.
To strengthen our small but highly motivated team in Sins, VTG is looking for a full-time investment professional.
Your tasks:

Act as a liaison with third-party investors, providing performance reports and relevant investment-related information.

Collaborate with Joint Venture Management teams, primarily in Slovakia and Switzerland, with potential expansion to other locations, ensuring the timely, reliable, and accurate delivery of performance reports and budgets to VTG.

Support local joint venture teams in preparing financial and operational data.

Conduct analysis and provide commentary on financial data for VTG’s Finance and Executive Board.

Shadow the Investment Officer and assist in key investment activities, including:

Preparing investment proposals for railcar acquisitions.

Analyzing underlying markets and customer segments to support investment decisions.

Creating income and cost assumption scenarios for decision-making.
-
Participating in Investment Committee meetings, supporting presentations and discussions.

Developing Excel-based financial models for investment evaluation.

Assisting in the preparation of decision papers for VTG’s various boards.

Tracking and monitoring investment performance, including post-investment analysis.

Supporting capital expenditure liquidity planning and financing activities related to asset investments.

Your profile:
- Strong communication skills in German and English, both written and spoken.
- Basic qualifications in accounting required; advanced skills are a plus but not mandatory.
- Experience with intermediate Excel modeling and a fundamental understanding of discounted cash flow (DCF) analysis.
- Agile, structured, and analytical mindset, with the ability to interpret financial data and express business results in numerical terms.
- Independent work ethic, demonstrating initiative and the ability to drive tasks forward.
- Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze issues from multiple perspectives and present findings objectively.
- Willingness to travel within Europe, approximately 2–5 nights per month.
